Storytime with Grandpa

This is a sight I could never tire of:

My dad sometimes pops into town, having driven from Salt Lake to Oakland with my grandpa, who owns and manages some condos there. At the end of his visits, he always tells the boys a story. Trenton starts asking for it, in fact, the moment he walks in the door. T loooves a good story. He frequently asks Ryan and I to "talk about a story in the jungle." My brain is running out of action-packed jungle stories, but thankfully, my dad's small-town upbringing and ability to enhance his own life experiences provides some darn good entertainment for the grandkids! (We love Varmint the dog!) Thanks for coming over to see us, Dad!

  1. Olivia saw this picture and exclaimed, "HEY! That's Uncle Randy!"
I said, "Yes, and he's also the Grandpa to those little boys in the picture."
She paused for a second, then said, "Do you know who else he is? He's my friend."

And really, she isn't just saying that. Your dad always takes the time to chat with her (even when she's being shy or unwilling) every time we see him.
    What a sweet picture!

  2. How cute! Dad is such a good story teller and so cute with the grandkids. He was playing with Henry yesterday and spinning him around (and then went to check to the mail with him just like he used to always do with Talia!). He has a gift with kids!
